The Comprehensive Digestive Analysis provides an in depth analysis and overview of the components of digestion, absorption, intestinal function and microbial organisms including beneficial and pathogenic bacteria, parasites and yeasts- as seen in the General Digestive Analysis test.

The Comprehensive Digestive analysis goes further to incorporate other elements essential to digestion including; overall bowel pH, production of short chain fatty acids, overall pancreatic function as well as other biochemical analysis of digestive health. This test differs from the Essential Digestive analysis, in that samples are analysed for parasites over three consecutive days. As parasites can be intermittent and not be excreted in every bowl motion this test increases the likelihood of identifying any presence of pathogenic parasites.

General
DIGESTIVE ANALYSIS
$99/test
Macroscopic Appearance

Stool colour, consistency, presence of fibres and food remnants

Microscopic Appearance

Presence of meat and vegetable fibres, starch cells, fat globules, red and white blood cells and yeasts

Parasitology 1 Sample

Identify the presence of any parasites

Culture

Detection of any pathogenic bacteria, fungal and yeast organisms including the overall balance of beneficial bacteria (e.g. Strep/Enterococci, E.Coli, Bifidobacterium spp., Lactobacilli spp. etc)

Short Chain Fatty Acids

Analyse levels of total short chain fatty acids including Acetate, Propionate and Butyrate, which are required for colonic health and overall healthy bowel function.

Biochemistry

Analyse overall digestive function including; protein digestion, bowel acidity, efficacy of absorption, pancreatic function, levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the stool.

Antimicrobal Susceptibility

If significant numbers of bacteria or fungi are detected they are tested against a range of natural antimicrobials and antifungals to determine which ones may be effective in eradicating the organism.
