The General Digestive Analysis test provides an overview of the components of digestion, absorption, intestinal function and microbial flora, as well as identifying pathogenic bacteria, parasites and yeasts.

This is a non-invasive test providing invaluable information in understanding the role of poor digestive function in disease states. Poor digestive function and imbalanced gut flora may play a crucial role in the underlying cause of a number of health conditions. Symptoms such as constipation, diarrhoea, flatulence, bloating, abdominal discomfort and bad breath are all indicative of poor gut function.

General
DIGESTIVE ANALYSIS
$99/test
Macroscopic Appearance

Stool colour, consistency, presence of fibres and food remnants

Microscopic Appearance

Presence of meat and vegetable fibres, starch cells, fat globules, red and white blood cells and yeasts

Parasitology 1 Sample

Identify the presence of any parasites

Culture

Detection of any pathogenic bacteria, fungal and yeast organisms including the overall balance of beneficial bacteria (e.g. Strep/Enterococci, E.Coli, Bifidobacterium spp., Lactobacilli spp. etc)

Short Chain Fatty Acids

Analyse levels of total short chain fatty acids including Acetate, Propionate and Butyrate, which are required for colonic health and overall healthy bowel function.

Biochemistry

Analyse overall digestive function including; protein digestion, bowel acidity, efficacy of absorption, pancreatic function, levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the stool.

Antimicrobal Susceptibility

If significant numbers of bacteria or fungi are detected they are tested against a range of natural antimicrobials and antifungals to determine which ones may be effective in eradicating the organism.
